weeding cake (extract from the « giant place detail » installation film, winter garden, nyc, usa)
visual artist sylvestre gobart and composer stéphane garin created this video and sound work as a part of the giant place detail residency with shua group in the winter garden in 2008
the film was seen on nine screens placed beneath a balcony at which tourists stood to overlook the "ground zero" site
the intention of the work was to create a contrast with the hyperbolic perception of catastrophe which defines 'place at the former world trade center site and suggest instead detailed images and sounds of the everyday
the work was commissioned by arts world financial center for their 20th anniversary
